After some years of workaholic
life it was clear to me: It shouldn't continue like this! So I prepared
for the drop out, sold everything and started my trip around the world.
In my childhood I had gotten the travel bug from my parents, traveling
all over Europe during family vacations. Outside of Europe I had already
been to Malaysia
and (as a kind of warm up trips for the big one) to New
York and Australia.
Than in January 1993 it was
time: Go west, young man ... young man plus dog! As a travel companion
I had Afra, a trained German Shepherd. She was simply the best - a great
friend and protector right at my side (except in Hawaii - it was not allowed
to bring dogs). She still watches over me from her grave below my house! |

My new "home state" was Texas
and my home town Greenville
where my best friend Bernd was my host.
Here I got to know the american

And I got my self "a ride":
In 1993 for my travels to the East Mad Max I and Silly Suzy and for the
following years to go West and my first years in Mexico Mad Max II.

I visited all US
States and all Canadian
Provinces and Territories. (My main interest were the US
National Parks and the Canadian
National Parks.) I traveled 250 000 Kilometers, ca. 155 000 Miles by
car in 2 and 1/2 years.
From North 
to South  ,
from East 
to West  .
I literally have been there,
did it, done it, have the T-shirt!
